Visual summary MA Unit 2.1

Exploring semiotic theory through the practice related Word and Image workshops, experiments with various combinations revealed numerous fixed and open meaning from the same words and images, dependent on the individuals interpretation of the context and their cultural background. This approach validates post-structuralist theory, highlighting the role of the visual communicator from a supportive or subversive position. By choosing to create open meanings using juxtaposed words and images our outcomes encouraged the viewer to engage and question the makers intention.
